The days are getting colder and colder! Frozen fingers are an expected peril of hand milking in our shack of a barn. It sure makes us appreciate the milk products all the more!
We’ve moved to once a day milking. Danny read an article in a Small Farm magazine about the cheese production going up with once a day milking. Not sure why exactly but we’re getting as much milk once a day as we were milking twice a day.
Milking around one o’clock is wonderful! The sun shine gives us the light and added warmth on our fingers! Seems counter productive but I’m gladly sticking to this schedule for our cold, dark winters!
